As expected, we can look back on a successful Integrity Conference held on October 3, 2025, at the Sandals Royal Hotel under the title From Science to Integrity: Applying a Proven Worldview to Policy Design.
We have been honored by the presence of Her Excellency, the Governor of Curaçao and her spouse, and His Excellency, the Governor of Aruba and his spouse, along with many leaders from both the public and private sectors.
On this occasion, we took the opportunity to honor the Governor of Curaçao, as this was her last LWI conference in her role as Governor of Curaçao. She was recognized for her dedication in attending all eight conferences consecutively and for her integrity as a protector of the country's interests.
As mentioned in the recent newsletters leading up to this important day, the purpose of this conference was to demonstrate that, just as the principles of the Judeo-Christian worldview have inspired the development of science, these same principles can be applied to create an effective integrity policy.
The first speaker discussed the origins of science and then provided specific details about medical science, emphasizing that science must be practiced with integrity. The second speaker pointed out the weaknesses of the judicial system as a means of upholding societal values (as science is value-free). The third speaker presented some initial ideas for an integrity policy, introducing two main pillars: a dualistic approach and the principle of cause and effect. Since the root cause of integrity breaches is selfishness, it is essential to consider the condition of the human spirit, which requires a dualistic approach.
After the speeches, participants had the chance to brainstorm in small groups around four questions. Their insights were shared in a plenary session, which led to an engaging discussion. A significant focus was placed on understanding the essence of integrity, whether it is something enforced by rules or upheld as a personal conviction. In this context, the theme of restoration was especially relevant, raising the question of whether society truly restores offenders. The validity of our starting point, the Judeo-Christian worldview, was also discussed. It was reiterated that we cannot measure the impact of worldviews like we do in a laboratory, but we can follow the best practice principle of maintaining a certain level of achievement as long as there is no better alternative.
Many participants shared that the conference was highly insightful and offered valuable opportunities to connect and collaborate. There was a clear sense of anticipation for the next steps ahead.
